State Support and VLN Present: The Basics of your First Dissolution without Children

This “core” training will prepare volunteers to take their first full representation family law case from start to finish - a dissolution without children.  This training covers the applicable rules and statutes, the procedure of the case from start to finish, and practical pointers such as what documents to file and what a trial looks like.

Presenter:

Cathleen A. Sykes is the Owner and Founding Attorney of Sykes Family Law, P.A. Cathleen graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 2010 and has practiced exclusively in the area of family law since that time. She routinely assists divorce clients with multi-million dollar marital estates, as well as those with minimal estates and everything in between.  Cathleen is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin and Ramsey County Bar Associations. She is a long-term volunteer with the Volunteer Lawyer’s Network, and has been named a 2016 Minnesota Lawyer Up and Coming Attorney and a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2017-2020.
