Better Know a Program: Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV)

Details:

State Support's long-running Better Know a Program series continues with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and its Vetlaw Program.  MACV’s Vetlaw Program is committed to removing legal obstacles that prevent Minnesota Veterans from obtaining and maintaining stable employment and housing.  Come learn more about how Vetlaw is helping veterans navigate our legal system.  We will talk about what Vetlaw does, who they serve, and how you can refer clients who may benefit from their work.

Presenter:

Walter Burk, Supervising Attorney, MACV.  Walter graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2000.  He then worked as a staff attorney in the federal and Minnesota State Courts from 2000 until 2008.  In April 2008, Walter joined Central Minnesota Legal Services as a staff attorney, focusing his efforts on two programs: representing unmarried parents seeking custody and parenting time rights, and representing veterans in family law, housing, consumer rights and other areas of law.  In 2016, Walter became a staff attorney, and later a supervising attorney, at MACV’s Vetlaw Program.
